Teriyaki Ribs

If fall-off-the-bone ribs in a mellow teriyaki sauce sound right up your alley, then try this simple recipe. Making your own sauce will save you tons of money in the long run, and you can tailor it to your own particular tastes.

Ingredients

1 rack of pork ribs (St. Louis or baby back ribs)
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/4 cup water
2 T. sesame seeds
2 T. chopped scallions (optional)

Method

Cut the ribs into two-bone sections and set them in the crockpot. Whisk together the remaining ingredients except for the sesame seeds and chopped scallion. Pour on top of the ribs and cook on high for 3 hours.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and arrange the cooked ribs on a lined cookie sheet. Reduce the cooking liquid from the crockpot in a saucepan until it forms a thick glaze. Brush the sauce on the ribs, sprinkle on the sesame seeds, and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Garnish with the chopped scallions and serve with white rice. Yum!
