If you've always wanted to try yoga, all you need are a few things: room to stretch out, comfortable clothes, and a virtual instructor.

Yoga is all about mindfulness and putting your body through the paces in a thoughtful way. In a regular class, you receive group instruction and personal attention. At home, it's all about how the different yoga poses make you feel.

You've got the room.

Imagine your favorite oversized beach towel. That's all the space you'll need in order to get through a series of basic yoga poses. If your room is carpeted, you're good to go. If you're on wood floors or tiles, invest in an inexpensive yoga mat or put down a thick towel so the floor isn't too hard on your knees.

You've got the clothes.

Don't worry if you don't have fancy activewear. Just about any comfortable clothes will do and no one is going to see you.

Yoga pants or leggings are ideal if you have them, as they are both light and stretchy. Form-fitting tops are helpful if you're checking your form in a mirror.

Just pick an instructor!

You may have to do some shopping around for a virtual instructor. Some are very chatty, while others don't give as much verbal instruction. If the landscape is important to you, try searching for yoga on the beach. It's a classic combination of smooth movements and the soothing sound of waves.

YouTube has a plethora of free yoga videos that are easily skimmed and saved in a playlist. Yoga with Adriene is a popular channel with millions of followers and a wide range of videos.

As you work your way through the first few yoga videos, keep in mind that everyone started somewhere. A yoga practice is a lifelong undertaking that can be very fulfilling for both exercise and mindfulness.
