Teal Pumpkin Project helps to raise awareness of food allergies through the addition of non-food trinkets and toys to your tricks-and-treats.

We recently wrote an article on the blue buckets that you may see around your neighborhood this Halloween, and it's all to raise awareness of autism. You can read more about the blue pumpkin buckets here. But we're here to talk about the teal buckets that may be making some appearances this year, too!

Putting a teal pumpkin on your doorstep means you have non-food treats available, like glow sticks or small toys, for those trick-or-treaters with food allergies or other conditions. This simple act promotes inclusion and makes it safer for everyone involved.

Here's how you can help support the Teal Pumpkin Project this Halloween:

  1. Provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters. The Teal Pumpkin Project has a list of common allergies for your reference.
  2. Stop by your local Ace Hardware store to pick up a teal can of Rust-Oleum Painter's Ultra Cover spray paint that has 2x the coverage and place your teal pumpkin in front of your home to indicate to passersby that you have non-food treats available!
  3. Add your home to the Teal Pumpkin Project map.
  4. Spread the word! Share the Teal Pumpkin Project with your friends and family.
