Have you checked out the newest season of "Cobra Kai" on Netflix yet? What are you waiting for?

I don't know about you, but Billy Zabka isn't an actor I thought I'd be watching in 2021. The '80s heartthrob is back on the small screen, thanks to the Netflix revival of the Cobra Kai franchise. If this is the first you're hearing of it, it may be because earlier seasons were streamed exclusively on YouTube, of all places.

Ralph Macchio is back as the older-and-wiser Daniel-san and he's now joined by a wife and daughter who indulge in his lifelong love of karate. Zabka reprises his role as an unlucky Johnny who spends much of the series trying to keep his dojo alive.

Here are five of the top reasons why the show is so unbelievably popular.

1. It's family-friendly.

Sure, there's some underage drinking and tons of violence, but weren't those the hallmarks of almost every '80s film? For the most part, the big issues tackle include relatable challenges like bullying, old people mastering social media, family dynamics, and unrequited teenage crushes.

2. It's a trip down Memory Lane.

The nostalgia factor is high with this series. In addition to the judicious use of flashbacks to the Karate Kid movies, the themes and characters endure in this 2021 reboot.

3. The soundtrack is awesome!

If cheesy synthesizer music isn't your thing, you may not agree with this one. The rest of us, however, will find the pop and rock hits timeless and irresistible.

4. Cameos abound.

Some of your favorite KK characters come back to chime in on life lessons or tie up loose ends. You'll love seeing how many of the characters developed their own story arcs over the years.

5. It has a real escapist quality to it.

Yes, the series has a ridiculous plot, but that's part of the beauty of it. For the hours spent with the rival dojos, you get completely immersed in a story that bears no relation to what's going on in the world today.

If you're looking for a new series to binge and you can actually remember the crane technique, check out Cobra Kai on Netflix. You won't regret it!
