The Georges Inn dates to 1789 and gets its name from two famous Georges.
The Georges Inn is a historic boutique hotel in Lexington, Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley. The inn takes its name from two Georges, Washington and Marshall. Both military leaders have connections to the two nearby colleges. Washington and Lee University is named for George Washington, and George Marshall attended Virginia Military Institute.
History is built into the very walls of the The Georges Inn, as two of the buildings were constructed more than 200 years ago and are among the oldest in Lexington. The Georges’ three-building complex is composed of the Georgian-style Washington building (1789) and the Marshall building (the oldest section was built in 1809). The Marshall building is three wings but constructed to look like one.
The 1,700-square-foot Patton Room opened in 2019 and is a venue for upscale events, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and more. It was featured on the DIY Network’s Salvage Dawgs, part of Black Dog Salvage about an hour away in Roanoke. Additionally, there’s Haywood's piano bar, which serves Southern bistro cuisine, and Taps lobby lounge. Buildings are situated on both sides of Main Street.

The Georges recently came in at number 53 on Travel + Leisure's list of Top 100 Hotels in the World and at number two on its list of Top 15 City Hotels in the U.S.
