Have you ever explored the little town of Mineral, Virginia?

When the weather warms up, there's nothing better than spending a day on the water. Lake Anna State Park is a great place to let the kids go swimming without having to worry about jellyfish and riptides. After you're done at the shore, take a little time to check out all that the town of Mineral has to offer.

Wineries and Breweries

If you're coming in from I-95, you'll pass a number of wineries and breweries on the way to Lake Anna. The Mattaponi Winery (7530 Morris Road in Spotsylvania) features unique fruit wines and a full-service tasting room. When was the last time you had a sample of sweet strawberry wine? If cider is more your speed, then head to Coyote Hole Ciderworks (225 Oak Grove Drive in Mineral).

Lake Anna Taphouse (208 Lake Front Drive in Mineral) carries a wide selection of brews from all over the region. Not sure what to try? Have a flight or two! You can even spike your beer with brightly-colored syrups to create your own concoction.

Historic Mineral

Did you know about Virginia's mining history? Head to downtown Historic Mineral to really absorb the small-town feel and practice your photography skills. Don't forget to stop and take a photo at the "Love" sign designed to honor the miners.

Saturday mornings from May to October, you can mingle with the locals at the farmers' market as you choose from the best produce around. If you need some retail therapy, check out the vintage goods at Mineral Mercantile (226 Mineral Avenue in Mineral) or buy some souvenirs before you head home.

Dining Out

Whether you're craving a big plate of pasta or some blazing hot wings, the restaurants in Mineral are open for takeout and dining in. Many of those located directly on the lake have docks so you can pull right up in your boat. How's that for convenient?
