Virginia locals will have a chance to buy tickets for the festival ahead of the general public.

A new multi-day music festival is coming to D.C. for the Juneteenth weekend. In a press conference at a D.C. high school, Grammy-award-winning artist Pharrell and Mayor Muriel Bowser made the announcement that the “Something in the Water” Music Festival will be moved from Virginia Beach to the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The three-day, open-air concert will be headlined by artists like Calvin Harris, Dave Matthews Band, Jon Batiste, Lil Baby, Ozuna, Tyler the Creator, and Usher and will be held from June 17–19 on Independence Ave. SW.

The announcement was made at Ballou High School, a school known for having one of the best choirs and marching bands in the city. The school’s band played “Happy” as Pharrell entered the room and Mayor Bowser announced that all of the students in the school will be getting free tickets to the concert.

D.C. competed with several other cities to host the music festival and the Mayor said it is part of a broader effort to bring tourism back to the city.

Virginia residents will be able to buy tickets for the "Something in the Water" Festival one day ahead of the general public at 10 a.m. EST on April 29. Three-day passes to the festival start at $299 and single-day passes will also be available. Virginia fans will also be available to purchase tickets for a two-way shuttle from Virginia Beach to D.C. Several upgraded ticket packages will also be available.
