Dwayne Haskins died after being hit by a dump truck on Saturday.

Funeral services for Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins are scheduled to take place in New Jersey and Maryland next weekend. Haskins was killed when he was hit by a dump truck this past Saturday.

The first service will be held on April 23 at Christ Church in Rockaway Township, New Jersey; the second will take place at Bullis School in Potomac, Maryland, the private K-12 school where he played football.

Haskins was only 24 years old when he was killed by the truck while walking on a South Florida highway.

Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Lt. Indiana Miranda said Haskins "was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic." He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Haskins was down in Florida training with other Steelers quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers.

It's not clear why he was on the highway, said Miranda. She stated it's "an open traffic homicide investigation."

In a statement following Haskins' death, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said:

"I am devastated and at a loss for words with the unfortunate passing of Dwayne Haskins.  He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community. Dwayne was a great teammate, but even more so a tremendous friend to so many. I am truly heartbroken. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Kalabrya, and his entire family during this difficult time."

Selected 15th overall in the 2019 draft by the Washington Commanders, Haskins spent two years in Washington before signing to Pittsburgh.

"We are devastated to hear the news of the tragic passing of Dwayne Haskins Jr.," Commanders owners Daniel and Tanya Snyder said in a statement. "He was a young man with a tremendous amount of potential who had infectious personality. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement. Our hearts and prayers are with the members of Dwayne's family and all of those who knew him and loved him."

Tributes poured out across social media in honor of Haskins:
