Must-Try Food in Denver!

Since moving to Denver, I've heard a few people say they were unimpressed with the food here. I have to say, I completely disagree. Personally, I've had a ton of great food in Denver. Today, I want to talk about some of the best places I've eaten at (in no particular order). Let's take a look at some of my must-try Denver restaurants!

Safta

I'm Lebanese, so I grew up eating some of the classic Mediterranean food such as hummus and tabbouleh. My boyfriend also loves Mediterranean food, which is how we ended up at Safta. If you're looking for an upscale restaurant serving this type of food, you need to check this spot out. They are inspired by food from Israel, the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa. You will find Safta in The Source hotel. We ended up sitting at the bar, where we had great service. We ordered a variety of dishes from different sections of the menu, as it was a small plate type of vibe. Some highlights included the tahini hummus and the whipped feta, both of which were incredibly smooth, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Everything here was fantastic and I cannot wait until the next special occasion when I decide to go back. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Daughter Thai

This spot is another one on the fancier side. My experience at Daughter Thai was awesome! We also ended up sitting at the bar when we visited this place on another date night. If you go to a popular spot, there's a chance you'll need a reservation if you want a table, but once again, the service at the bar was still really good! Daughter Thai is in the Highlands area of Denver, and they have fantastic Thai food. They serve traditional Thai food, as well as Thai food with their own spin on it. This spot is owned by 3 Thai women, and they really know what they're doing. If you haven't eaten here already, you need to go now! I especially recommend the As You Wish cocktail and the Mea Sai Khao Soi.

Beckon

There's a special occasion, and there's an extra special occasion. Beckon fits into the latter. If you have the opportunity, you have to visit. This place is insane!  Beckon requires reservations and it is essentially a tasting menu. More than just a meal, this is a totally unique experience! Beckon is in RiNo, and can easily be missed if you aren't looking for it. The menu changes quarterly and is inspired by the moon cycle. I specifically remember being very impressed by the squab we were served, which is a domesticated young pigeon. It sounds weird but it was really good! The tartar was also delightful. I hope I can make it back one day because it was truly an experience I'll never forget.

Stoney's Uptown Joint

Now, we're going from fancier food to bar food because variety is important! (Stoney's Bar and Grill and Stoney's Cantina are similar locations owned by the same people, but Stoney's Uptown happens to be the first one I ordered from.) This is one of my favorite things to order from late-night delivery or to enjoy at the location with a couple of beers. The Mac & Cheese Spring Rolls are such a unique take on fried mac 'n cheese, and the addition of green chili makes them very Colorado. Dunk these bad boys in some ranch and you have what has become one of my favorite fried snacks! The next time you want to watch a sporting event or are wondering what to get from Uber Eats, you gotta go for some Stoney's.
