The latest ramen trend creates a creamy, savory broth out of a few basic ingredients.

Everyone has their own favorite way to doctor up a pack of instant ramen. Mine is to add lime, cilantro, shredded chicken, and a splash of hot sauce. TikTok has taken the concept to a whole other level with some of the recent hacks out of Asia.

The recipe is simple: by adding a raw egg, a tablespoon of mayonnaise (Japanese kewpie mayo if you have it), and some garlic to your flavor packet, you can transform the bland broth into something a little more sophisticated.

Some versions even combine the mixture with the hot, cooked noodles to temper the egg.

Before you turn up your nose at the thought of adding mayo, know that it really does create that velvety soup broth people are raving about. I did it with regular mayonnaise, an egg, some shredded chicken, and a dash of furikake on top. It turned out great!

The next time you're getting ready to make your favorite cup of noodles, take a few minutes to gather these extra ingredients and give this a shot. Add a little leftover chicken, some boiled shrimp, and blanched veggies of your choice. You won't regret it!
