The nine-foot door is radio-controlled to operate night or day, dispensing Reese’s peanut butter cups to lucky trick-or-treaters.

Americans are trying to figure out how to safely hand out candy this year, but it looks like the people at Reese’s have beaten them to the punch. The peanut butter cup candy brand has created a robotic door that will roam neighborhoods this Halloween, spitting out candy to eager trick-or-treaters. The Reese's Trick-or-Treat Door is decked out in orange and black and signals its arrival with music, smoke, and lights. The door is radio-controlled and dispenses king-sized packages of  Reese’s peanut butter cups whenever someone approaches the door and says, “trick or treat.”

Halloween is just the latest holiday impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending kids forego trick-or-treating for socially distanced costume parades or virtual events. People who want to continue the tradition are turning to safe ways to distribute candy such as candy chutes and prepackaged treat bags. Reese’s is one of the most popular candies given out to trick-or-treaters, and the company is doing its best to put a happy face on the holiday.

"This Halloween is unlike any other, so we've upped the ante on creativity as a result," said Allen Dark, Reese's senior brand manager. "A robotic Reese's dispensing door is just what the world needs right now!”

Obviously, the Reese's Trick-or-Treat Door can’t be everywhere this Halloween. Reese’s is asking its fans to go to Instagram and tell the door to come to their neighborhood with the hashtag #ReesesDoor. Reese’s hasn’t said how many doors are out there or how many neighborhoods they will visit, so count yourself lucky if it comes to yours!
