The giveaways are part of a promotion launching McDonald's new reward program.

McDonald’s is launching its new rewards programs with a special promotion, “World Famous Fan Day.” On Tuesday, July 13, McDonald’s will be giving away its famous fries free to everyone, as well as holding a contest to find its biggest fans. July 13 is actually National French Fry Day, but McDonald’s is renaming it “World Famous Fan Day.” 

To get your free medium fries, simply download the McDonald’s app and add the free fries to your cart. No purchase necessary! Also, for a limited time, McDonald’s is giving each person 1,500 points when they sign up for the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program.

The burger chain will be rewarding its most fervent followers by holding a contest on social media where the grand prize winner will get free fries for life. To get your hands on the million reward points and the lifetime supply of French fries, log on to Twitter and tell McDonald’s what makes you the most loyal fan. Make sure to tag @McDonalds and use the hashtag #MyMcDonaldsFanContest and your home state’s initials.

Sixty-six fans, one for every year of McDonald’s history, will get one million reward points.

According to HowStuffWorks, French fries are the most popular item on the McDonald’s menu and the tasty side frequently comes in first in taste tests.
