The new cookie is inspired by a popular breakfast treat.

The 2020 season was a rough one for the Girls Scouts. The organization is building enthusiasm for next year by announcing the introduction of a new cookie. The "Toast-yay" is a French toast-inspired cookie that will join the lineup in 2021. The toast-shaped vanilla cookie is adorned with the Girl Scout trefoil and dipped in white icing. Toast-yays will only be available for purchase in select markets to be named later this year.

Cookie season typically starts in January, with girls collecting orders and delivering cookies through the spring. The pandemic in 2020 threw a wrench into typical Girl Scout cookie sales procedures, forcing girls to utilize online ordering and contactless delivery methods. The Girl Scout Organization also developed a special care package system that allowed people to donate cookies to healthcare workers, first responders, and volunteer organizations working to fight the COVID pandemic.

Girl Scouts will once again use online methods to provide safe and easy cookie delivery in 2021. Cookie fans will be able to visit Girlscouts.org and punch in their zip code to find the closest troop selling cookies. You can also use your phone by downloading the Girl Scout app in the Android or iOS app store. Girl Scouts can also create digital cookie websites to share with neighbors, family, and friends.
