Can you believe it’s already August? Summer is winding down, but before we get into all the fall festivities, there is still a full month (plus some!) of summer weather remaining, and we want to make sure you take advantage of it!

One of the most fun ways to enjoy the last bits of summer weather is to a few friends over for some lawn games. Even if you don’t have a cabin or a huge yard, you can still enjoy whatever green space you have with one of these three outdoor games.

Giant Jenga

To begin playing giant Jenga, you stack the large wooden rectangular blocks in rows of three, with each row facing a different direction. Then each person participating takes turns taking out a block. The person who topples over the blocks loses. Sounds easy? Well, the caveat is you can only play with one hand, and things get a lot harder when all the blocks are teetering on a T-shape at the bottom.

Cornhole

Some people call it cornhole, others call it bean bag toss. But whichever you prefer, it’s a great lawn game! The point of the game is to throw the bags (traditionally of corn) into the hole in the platform on the opposite side. You play this game in teams, with each time trying to win the most points. The game is made much more fun if you’ve got an ice cold beer in hand.

Ladder Toss

Ladder Toss requires you to be able to aim a little, but if you can’t, it’s still equally as much fun. In order to play, you set up the three-tier “ladders” at opposite ends of the yard and pick your teams. Then, you pick up the rope with the two golf balls attached at either side and throw it at the “ladder.” If you reach the highest tier, that’s three points. If you land on the lowest, that’s one. First one to get to 21 points wins. It’s a simple concept, but a complicated execution. All the more fun if you win, though!
