A spokesperson for the hospital said that it was most likely a prank by the guard ...

A video has recently gone viral for showing a "ghost patient" entering a hospital and being greeted by a security guard.

The CCTV footage comes from Finochietto Sanatorium in Buenos Aries and depicts a guard at a desk after the sliding doors open in front of him with nobody there. He then gets up from his chair and greets this seemingly invisible patient—an elderly woman, per the guard—before checking her in and offering a wheelchair. According to the guard, a few hours later, he alerted the medical staff that he had noticed this patient hadn't left and he had grown concerned.

But doctors said they hadn't seen any patients coming or going, per reports. According to The Sun, when staff asked him for the details, they "were left stunned as she had died the day before."

Watch the "spine-tingling" clip below and see for yourself, then we'll go into the real explanation:

Alrighty, explanation time.

So according to a spokesperson for the hospital, they believe the guard had welcomed the "ghost patient" as a prank, as the automatic door was broken and opening on its own. In fact, it had reportedly opened on its own multiple times during the guard's shift.

"It is the door to one of the entrances that is open after hours, it is the entrance to see the duty doctor," the spokesperson said. "As it was broken, it opened by itself 28 times during the 10 hours between Thursday night and Friday early morning."

Was it done to cure the boredom of working the late-night shift? Possibly.

Or was it something more ... spooky? Possibly.

What do YOU think? Prank or paranormal phenomenon?
