Get your ski poles and boots ready, Colorado. There's snow in the forecast, finally.

Several ski resorts across the Rocky Mountains, including Keystone Resort, Arapahoe Basin, and Loveland Ski Area, received a few flakes on Monday. And while it wasn't anything too crazy or heavy, it was enough to get us excited about the prospect of the upcoming ski season. Now, if you're not much of a skier, then this bit of news will have you pumped that winter is (finally) coming.

And if our state's wintry past is any indication, this season is geared to be a brutally cold one. Well, that, and the Farmers' Almanac says so. We'll get our snow, but it's not poised to be as bad as some years, though there won't be as much as we probably need to replenish our snowpack and reservoirs.

As we wait for Mother Nature to do her thing and let the snow grace us with its presence, ski areas like Arapahoe Basin and Loveland Ski Area are taking matters into their own hands. Snowmakers have been seen at the ski resorts for the last week as they try and get prepped for the imminent ski season.
