Dust off your video camera if you have a young reporter in your house! WTOP is looking for the most charismatic junior on-air talent in the DMV.

To enter, applicants should prepare a video newscast (30 seconds or longer) and have a parent submit an application online. There will be three categories: kindergarten-grade 5, grades 6-8, and grades 9-12. The grand prize for each category is $500 to the reporter and $1,000 to the reporter's school. Students from all public, private, and charter schools in the DMV (grades K-12) are eligible to participate. For a full list of FAQs about the contest, visit the WTOP contest website.

Contestants are encouraged to be creative when drafting their news stories, but are expected to abide by the contest guidelines. Be sure to read the full list of requirements here before finalizing your video entry.

The general public can vote online for their favorite reporters October 29-November 9, and a panel of judges will select the final winners. The contest results will be announced on the WTOP website November 12-17, 2018.
