Over 600,000 vehicles are covered under the latest Kia and Hyundai recalls, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Engine problems and possible spontaneous fires due to oil pan leaks are the reasons for this latest batch of recalls. Various models have been identified as part of an ongoing cumulative recall by Korean automakers Kia and Hyundai.

What cars are included in this recall?

All in all, over 600,000 total vehicles have been added to a growing list of car recalls by Kia and Hyundai. To date, approximately 3.7 million cars have been recalled by the two automakers since 2015. These now include:

  • 378, 967 Kia Soul SUVs (model years 2012-2016) with 1.6-liter engines are being recalled for potentially abnormal combustion that can result in oil leak-based fires. If these vehicles show damage to their engines or catalytic converters, those parts will be replaced a well.
  • 94,389 Kia Sedona vehicles (model years 2015-2018) may have faulty wiring harnesses that could lead to airbag issues.
  • 32,296 Kia Sportages (model years 2011-2012) have potential engine oil pan leaks.
  • 120,000 Hyundai Tucson SUVs (model years 2011-2013) are also being recalled for possible oil pan leaks.

It is important to note that only certain cars in each model year of each make are affected.
