Expect major transit delays and road closures near the Capitol this weekend as the March for Life and the Women's March come to D.C.

Thousands of participants for two enormous marches on Friday and Saturday will make getting around in the city a bit more challenging. The first event is the March for Life, which will be based on and around the National Mall on Friday. Saturday's event is the Women's March, which is centered around Freedom Plaza.

Both events will impact travel in the area, with pedestrians doing their best to get there on foot as well as on transit. Unless you are attending either event, you may want to stay away from the general vicinity, as many roads will be closed and parking will be severely limited.

Because these events are both starting in the later morning hours, they should really impact Friday afternoon commutes through D.C. the most.

The Washington Metropolitan Police Department urges all drivers and pedestrians to be cautious of one another. Parking restrictions will be in place, even at regular metered spots, so you should be extra careful of where you park if you are driving in. Metro or getting a ride in as far as you can would probably be your better bet.
