Take that, Jeff Bezos!

British billionaire Richard Branson—and now space adventurer—just completed the first space flight on his Virgin Galactic space plane this past weekend. This flight was nearly 20 years in the making.

Virgin Galactic's SpaceshipTwo Unity and the carrier aircraft VMS Eve lifted off on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. (MT). Three Virgin Galactic employees joined Branson for the space flight—Beth Moses, Colin Bennett, and Sirisha Bandla—as well as pilots Dave Mackay and Michael Masucci.

During the flight, Branson had a message recorded as he was floating around in microgravity, saying, "To all you kids out there — I was once a child with a dream, looking up to the stars. Now I'm an adult in a spaceship...If we can do this, just imagine what you can do."
