Hurricane Idalia made landfall on Wednesday. The storm unleashed fury as a wide stretch of the Gulf Coast had submerged homes and vehicles, flooded streets, and downed power lines in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas before exiting towards the Atlantic Ocean.

The Category 3 hurricane made landfall at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday.

The National Hurricane Center reports that Idalia, with winds up to 60 mph, is about 20 miles southwest of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as of 2 a.m. (ET) Thursday.

"On the forecast track, the center of Idalia will move near or along the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina through tonight, and then just offshore the coast of North Carolina on Thursday," said the National Hurricane Center.
