The website for free COVID tests launches today.

The federal government is officially launching a website for Americans to order free COVID-19 testing kits on Wednesday, January 19.

The website, COVIDTests.gov, allows people to order four kits per residential address. Once ordered, the kits should be mailed within seven to 12 days by the U.S. Postal Service.

"We can’t guarantee there won’t be a bug or two," said White House press secretary Jen Psaki, "but the best tech teams across the administration and the Postal Service are working hard to make this a success."

The White House says the tests are not designed to be shipped to your house once you start feeling sick. Instead, the tests should be ordered and kept until somebody in your household starts to feel sick with COVID-like symptoms. This is because USPS shipping times are at least one to three days.

If anyone needs assistance, they should file a service request at emailus.usps.com/s/the-postal-store-inquiry or contact a help desk at 1-800-ASK-USPS.
