Nearly three million people are without electricity.
The state of Texas is currently battling a blackout crisis during one of its biggest ice storms in years. Millions of residents are without electricity and power, and due to the roads being blocked off by snow, many are unable to leave their homes and are looking to their neighbors for help. That's where you come in.
Both local and national independent organizations are seeking to help keep Texans safe during this time of need. We've put together the following list of resources that are currently available and looking to expand services for the millions without power, food, or a roof over their heads.

How to Donate to Help Those Impacted By the Texas Blackout Crisis:
- The Salvation Army: Providing shelter, food, and other necessary items.
- The American Red Cross: Supporting 35 warming centers with cots and blankets.
- #LoveThyNeighborTX in Austin: A campaign to raise money for hotel rooms, food, water, clothing, and other basic needs.
- Free Lunch: Making deliveries of home-cooked meals, blankets, hand warmers, and hygiene kits to the Esperanza Community residents, a state-sanctioned shelter/campsite.
- The Other Ones Foundation: Providing resiliency kits for residents of the campsite.
- Austin Street Center, OurCalling, The Stewpot, Union Gospel Mission, and Oak Lawn United Methodist Church in Dallas: Gathering funds to help pay for temporary shelter, as well as COVID-19 rapid tests for those in need.
- Lucille's 1913 Community Kitchen in Houston: Preparing and distributing meals.
- Caritas of Austin: Helping those experiencing housing insecurity through monetary donations or ordering items from their Amazon wish list to be shipped directly to the center.
- Austin Pets Alive!: Working to keep pets warm and safe. In need of heating pads, Styrofoam coolers, dog beds, heat lamps, and monetary donations.
- Feed the People Dallas: Accepting both cash donations and dry goods items for its foodservice programs. Donate items from their Amazon wishlist. If you’re local, you can also volunteer.
