U.S. News & World Report has released its annual list of the best high schools in the nation. Here are Colorado's rankings.

Every year, U.S. News & World Report releases its "Best High Schools" list. And in Colorado, 72 schools were recognized in 2018 among the best in the nation. Schools receive either a gold, silver, or bronze medal that indicates how well they've prepared their students for college the most successfully. U.S. News ranked 20,500 schools across the nation and looked at students' overall performance on Advanced Placement test scores, state high school proficiency tests, and graduation rate. Below is a breakdown of how the best high schools are ranked: [caption id="attachment_37017" align="aligncenter" width="665"]best high schools Courtesy of U.S. News & World Report[/caption] California had the most gold medal schools (85), followed by Texas (73), New York (57), and Florida (36). For Colorado, 11 schools earned gold medals, while 31 earned silver and 30 earned bronze. Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette was named the "Best High School" in Colorado, with a 99 percent graduation rate and a score of 83.7 (out of 100) for College Readiness.
