*UPDATED* As of this morning, Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials have returned to Lookout Mountain, with no sign of the pregnant elk.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials have been closely monitoring a pregnant elk that went into labor earlier this week. The elk was first caught on Denver7's
remote-controlled camera on Tuesday night.
And by Wednesday, she still hadn't given birth.
The live stream video reached more than 1 million people on Facebook, with roughly 500,000 watching from all over the world.
Wildlife officials have since responded via Twitter, stating that, initially, they weren't going to get involved since it was a wild animal and were merely going to let nature take its course. But then decided on Wednesday afternoon to go check on her and see how her labor was progressing and if they needed to intervene or not. A wildlife veterinarian accompanied them.
