The closures are an effort to consolidate staff for efficiency.

The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) is temporarily closing down 12 locations until at least April 30.

Effective April 13, this move comes at a time when the agency is also training new staff and altering their daily store hours to allow for increased cleaning of their retail shops. Employees from the shuttered locations will be given the opportunity to work in neighboring stores and take time off as needed to self-quarantine.

“We chose the stores using several criteria including the locations of neighboring stores and collaborated with our regional retail leaders to determine which closures would have the lowest impact on customers’ convenience,” said ABC Chief Executive Officer Travis Hill.
