We have a new way to get around the city, with Lime's e-mopeds making their debut in the nation's capital.

The company known for providing D.C. with rental bikes and scooters has a new vehicle to add to the fleet. These bright green mopeds were unveiled during a special presentation by Lime's CEO, Wayne Ting.

You can't just jump on one and go, though. Before you can rent one, you'll have to go through the various training and safety steps first. These include:

  • Watching a 4-minute training video on how to operate the mopeds properly.
  • A driver's license check to make sure the renter is eligible to drive.
  • Taking a helmet selfie to ensure you have your protection in place before you set off. Each moped comes with two different sizes and hairnets for a sanitary, easier fit.
  • Reviewing a step-by-step guide on how and where to park when you're done.

This new addition to the Lime vehicles in D.C. represents the first metropolitan city that will pilot the moped rental service.

“This launch is a major step toward our goal of expanding access to affordable, carbon-free and shared transportation to more users around the world. As the first city to have all three Lime vehicle types, we’re excited to help Washington D.C. get moving again with safe, sustainable, and socially-distanced transportation. D.C. residents can now use Lime to make any trip, at any time, to get anywhere in the city," said Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime.

The next time you're looking for a fun, eco-friendly way to get out and about in the city, check out the Lime app and find one of the new mopeds near you.
