The Bandimere family has also filed a lawsuit against Gov. Polis, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and Jeffco Public Health.

The drama between Bandimere Speedway and Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) continues. On Thursday, JCPH announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Bandimere Speedway following a rally earlier in the week and states the event was a "blatant violation of public health orders."

Bandmiere Speedway held a "Stop the COVID Chaos" rally on Tuesday night, where thousands of people joined to protest the governor's public health orders.

JCPH, in a release, said that Bandimere was notified in advance of the rally that "large events, no matter their intent, remain subject to current Executive Orders and Public Health Orders as they are the law."

"After Bandimere refused to comply with both county and state public health orders, JCPH decided it had no choice but to take legal action against Bandimere to protect the safety for all county residents and encourage behaviors that limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community," said JCPH.

"Events like the Sept. 1 rally at Bandimere Speedway put everyone at risk," writes JCPH. "As a community, we must work together to minimize the health impacts of COVID-19 both on an individual and economic level, which we can all do by continuing to be vigilant about public health precautions."

However, according to reports, the Bandimere family filed a lawsuit of their own against Gov. Jared Polis, the Colorado Department of Health and its executive director, Jill Hunsaker Ryan, and JCPH and its executive director, Mark B. Johnson. stating that the executive orders are "unconstitutional."

In July, Jeffco and Bandimere were at odds after the track hosted its annual Fourth of July fireworks show to a big crowd, despite the orders restricting that number to 175 people. Bandimere was then issued a temporary restraining order that prevented the speedway, in part, "from hosting any gathering in excess of 175 people."

Weeks later, Bandimere was reopened after reaching an agreement with JCPH.
