Authorities are not sure what caused the 5-story building to collapse, but they think it was due to a severe storm passing over the area. A spokesperson for DC Fire and EMS said, "Two structures to the right suffered some damaged secondary to the collapse and a vacant structure to the right suffered major damage."
Two homes next to the building were also evacuated.
