The stores have started liquidating inventories and canceled on-site vet clinic appointments.

A chain of pet food stores located across the east coast has announced it will close and liquidate of all its stores following a bankruptcy filing. Loyal Companion has more than 52 stores in Virginia, Maryland, D.C., Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. The stores offer a range of pet food and supplies, along with grooming and self-serve dog wash stations.

The closures come after the parent company, Independent Pet Partners filed for Chapter 11 on February 6 in Delaware.

Most of the stores have already begun liquidation and are scheduled to close by the end of February. Shoppers can get 10 to 30% off all the remaining inventory, while supplies last. Existing grooming appointments will be fulfilled through mid-February and customers who have purchased self-wash packages can get a refund for unused washes in-store. Gift cards and rewards program points must be redeemed before February 28 and Loyal Companion is trying to make sure all online orders are complete.
