It's the only American Girl store in the state.

The American Girl store in Park Meadows Mall, which has been closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic, will not be reopening its doors, reports The Denver Post. This will affect seven regular full- and part-time employees and seven part-time positions, says a spokeswoman for the doll company.

The Lone Tree store is the only Colorado location, and the company's smallest. It joins two other stores in Kansas City and Atlanta that are permanently closing. All the leases were going to expire in 2021.

"While decisions that impact our associates, our customers, and the community are always difficult, the closures are a necessary step to optimize our store portfolio and accelerate our expanding e-commerce business," said Jamie Cygielman, American Girl general manager, in a statement.

Opening in March 2010, the Park Meadows location had "throngs of metro Denver girls" at its doors.

Known for its passionate fans of all ages, American Girl dolls have helped shaped the minds of many young women for generations, myself included.
