It's the job fair we've all been waiting for: Amazon is hosting a Career Day in Arlington, with an emphasis on HQ2!
It's time to dust off that resume and see what jobs Amazon is trying to fill. HQ2, Amazon's infamous second headquarters, has truly brought a renewed vitality to the Northern Virginia job market.
in 2019, they are anticipating filling up to 400 new HQ2 jobs, with more to come each year over the next decade. All in all, Amazon is slated to create about 25,000 jobs in the area, with everything from entry-level to executive positions available to local applicants.

METRO: Pentagon City Metro Station is the closest stop, but you can also use the Crystal City Station.
PARKING: Hourly garage parking at Pentagon City Mall
Keep in mind: The Grounds is an outdoor space that is essentially a converted parking lot. Dress to impress, but be comfortable and dress for the weather.
According to the agenda, there will be two opportunities to hear from Amazon leadership in "fireside chat" sessions: from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The evening session will also feature a presentation on HQ2. The overall purpose of the event is for applicants to explore the current job openings, speak to recruiters, and get a feel for the Amazon work environment.
While recruiters and leadership will be on hand to speak to people about job openings, no interviews will be done at the Career Day event. You can attach a copy of your resume to your registration and also bring copies with you just in case. Amazon has a unique hiring practice, with multiple steps and tiers of interviews. Keep in mind, HQ2 is still a concept on paper, and jobs that will eventually be housed there may be out of Ballston or other existing Amazon offices in the meantime. Construction of the new headquarters is a major undertaking that will span the next few years.
It's not just all about the tech jobs in the DMV, so don't worry if you don't have a degree in computer sciences. Nationwide, Amazon currently has over 30,000 jobs to fill, and they'll be hosting Career Days in six major cities on that day. If you know someone eyeing a job at Amazon on the East Coast, this is the only Career Day in the Mid-Atlantic!
