After 13 years, the pop singer has been granted her independence.

Britney Spears is finally free. On Friday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny ruled that the conservatorship, which has controlled the pop icon's life for the last 13 years, should be terminated.

The New York Times reported that Judge Penny under this arrangement, Spears will not have to undergo additional mental evaluations; however, the current conservator of Spears' estate will continue to work "to settle ongoing financial concerns related to the case."

Jamie Spears, her father, recently agreed to step down as the conservator.
