More than 100 "wee-Cottages" will be taking over a plot of land in Longmont. Not only will they be small and adorable, but they'll cost less, too.

Boulder Creek Neighborhoods will be expanding its "wee-Cottages" to Longmont with a new development called Blue Vista. The new neighborhood will be located off of Quail Road, directly across the street from the Longmont Recreation Center. The plan is to build 102 "wee-Cottages" that range in size from 896 to 1,354 square feet, all with different floor plans and layouts. Plus, the 102 homes will start in the low $300,000 range -- 27 of those will be marked in the $200,000s. According to atHomeColorado, the cottages:
"... were designed with a full-scale lifestyle in mind. That means the homes accommodate standard-sized furniture -- full-sized couches and queen beds ... Blue Vista will feature both a ranch-style wee-Cottage and several two-story Cottage designs."
Blue Vista will be available for purchase starting in May. And many people (about 400 and counting) have put their names on the waiting list to get more information about the new cottages. The cottages are in the permitting process and won't be completed until late 2018.
"Hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of Americans grew up in these homes that were 900 to 1,200 square feet. Somewhere along the way, we decided (they) need to be bigger, and (people) who can't afford the bigger homes out of luck," David Sinkey, Boulder Creek founder, told the Daily Camera. Boulder Creek Neighborhoods has also launched the "wee-Cottages" in Loveland and Stapleton. What do you think? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
