We sat down with the former president of CU, Bruce Benson, to discuss everything from his career to school politics and working with faculty, to the many great achievements he completed during his time at the university. Check out the interview below.

At 81 years old, Bruce Benson was the University of Colorado's longest-running president in 65 years, having served since 2008. Back in 2018, he announced his retirement from the position, which didn't take effect until recently, in July 2019.

According to the press release statement regarding his retirement, the university had seen more than 135,000 students earn degrees from CU's four campuses (Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, and the Anshutz Medical Campus) and the enrollment rate had increased from 54,174 to 65,375 (with an additional 7,000 taking courses for credit) during Benson's tenure. He leaves behind a legacy that will impact students and faculty for years to come.
