Ahead of the next season, Copper Mountain is making some major updates: two ski lifts will be replaced, and season pass prices have dropped.
On Monday, March 5, officials from Copper Mountain announced that two big changes are coming to the ski resort ahead of the next season, including replacing two of its ski lifts and lowering prices for season passes. The American Flyer lift and the American Eagle lift are both expected to be replaced -- that is, if the U.S. Forest Service agrees to it. Currently, the two lifts are high-speed quads. The plan is to replace the American Eagle with two new lifts -- a six-person chair lift and an eight-person gondola cabin -- and the American Flyer will be replaced with a six-person chair lift with bubble enclosures. Copper Mountain hopes that by doing this it will increase its uphill capacity by about 40 percent.
"Replacing our most popular mountain-access lifts will significantly improve how our guests experience some of the best skiing and riding on Copper Mountain," said Gary Rodgers, president and general manager, in a statement. "More guests will be able to get up the mountain quicker to enjoy a variety of easy, intermediate, and advanced terrain."
On top of the new ski lifts, Copper Mountain has also dropped the price for their season pass next year, which are now available for purchase. Prices start at $459 and include unlimited access to Copper, three free days at Monarch, Purgatory, Powder Mountain (Utah), and Taos Ski Valley (New Mexico). Last year, the cost of passes jumped to $599! So you'll be saving $140 this year.
