Jane Austen's classic tale of match-making and meddling is back in a cheeky remake. "Emma." has been reimagined for new audiences in this 2020 version, which comes out nationwide on March 6.

If you're not quite ready to commit to the hours and emotion of Downton Abbey, then Emma. is a great option to get hooked on a period film. Check out the official trailer here, courtesy of Focus Features:

Audiences and critics have given the movie very favorable ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, and other rave reviews are starting to roll in.

With a cast that includes hilarious comedians like Miranda Hart and Bill Nighy, you have to expect a certain amount of over-the-top affectations and one-liners. Emma Woodhouse is played by Anya Taylor-Joy, and Johnny Flynn is the inimitable Mr. Knightley. It will be interesting to see what director Autumn de Wilde has come up with for the relatively young cast in her debut feature film.

From the looks of the movie clips, Emma. will have a modern edge to it while maintaining the timeless storyline faithfully. Not quite as contemporary as the '90s favorite, Clueless, but definitely more snappy than previous BBC versions of the story.
