Yes, you can really watch full feature-length movies for free on YouTube!

Back in 2018, YouTube rolled out a movie service to try to get some of the online movie rental action. It wasn't until a few months ago, though, that they began to really advertise it more on their homepage. The question is, how does it all work?

Just go to YouTube, type "movies" into the search box, and you'll be redirected to the current list of offerings. Newer movies are available to buy or rent (just like through Amazon), but they have a whole section marked "free with ads."

Sure, you have to skip through the occasional commercials, but you can choose from almost 100 titles in the free category right now! Try one of these iconic '80s movies and settle in for a trip through time!

1. Red Dawn (1984)

Patrick Swayze will have you feeling all kinds of patriotic in this action movie that combines Russians, teenagers, and a bunch of tanks.

2. The Terminator (1984)

See how the whole mess got started in the very first film in the franchise. You'll never look at Arnold the same way again!

3. Overboard (1987)

This hilarious comedy starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell will have you craving an ice-cold beer, so have one on hand when you watch it.

4. Mr. Mom (1983)

Michael Keaton is charming but clueless as a stay-at-home dad.

5. Rain Man (1988)

This dramedy has it all: unlikely siblings, a con job, and great one-liners.

I don't know about you, but watching movies this way reminds me of the days when you'd channel-surf and just watch what was on. Commercials weren't as annoying back then—they give you time to get a snack!
