Nederland, Colorado's world-famous, quirky Frozen Dead Guy Days is back, March 9-11!
Celebrating its 17th year, Frozen Dead Guy Days is coming back to Nederland for a wild, crazy, and quirky three-day festival. Now, if you've never heard of it before, well, this probably sounds like a
really strange tradition just from the name alone. And, uh, you'd be right. This is not your average festival -- far from it actually.
Frozen Dead Guy Days pays homage to Bredo Morstoøl, a man who is currently frozen in a state of suspended animation and stuffed inside a Tuff Shed on dry ice above Nederland. Before all of this, Grandpa Bredo Morstoøl lived a comfortable life in Norway, but it wasn't until after his death in 1989 that things started to get very interesting ...
Typically, people are buried or even cremated when they die. Not Grandpa Bredo. Instead, he was packed in dry ice and shipped to Oakland, California's Trans Time cryonics facility, where he was placed in liquid nitrogen. Four years later, his daughter and grandson brought him to Colorado. Some people caught wind of everything, and the rest is history.
