Celebrate all things spring at this annual flower festival.

If you live in Northern Virginia, chances are, you've heard about the annual spring festival at Burnside Farms. Thousands of daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips are planted every year, and the fields are open to the public for picking. Talk about Instagram heaven!

The festival is currently underway and will last at least a few weeks, usually 20-30 days, as the different varieties of tulips continually bloom.

Keep on top of updates by watching their Facebook page for announcements. This is very important if rain is in the forecast; they will close down the fields for muddy conditions.

For the 2022 festival, the prices have gone up a bit and are tiered for weekday and weekend prices. Depending on the date you want to go, a ticket will run you anywhere from $14 to $23 per person, depending on your age and the time of day.

Tickets are released online weekly, and once they go on sale, they'll sell out fast. Because of the new capacity guidelines, you must buy them ahead of time. Don't expect to just show up, as sold-out timeslots mean no tickets at the gate as well. All tickets must be purchased ahead of time for 2022.

Short of buying a plane ticket to Holland, you probably won't get a chance to see this many different varieties of gorgeous flowers in one place any time soon. This festival only happens once a year before the farm turns to its summer sunflower festival.

The coolest part about this pick-your-own setup is you can pay $1 more and keep the tulip bulb. With the proper care, you can store and replant the bulbs for several more years of lovely blooms. As a gardener, I can tell you that's a bargain for some of the fancier varieties like ruffled parrot tulips or French tulips.

The Spring Festival will be held at the Nokesville location of Burnside Farms, at 11008 Kettle Run Road, in Nokesville, Virginia. For more information about the festival, head to their Facebook page for the latest announcements.
