More than 100,000 bikes are expected at the event!
"Rolling to Remember," the successor to "Rolling Thunder," is set to return to Washington, D.C. this Memorial Day Weekend after going virtual in 2020.
The annual motorcycle ride is done "to raise awareness of the critical issues facing our nation’s veterans and demand action for the 82,000 service members missing, as well as raise awareness of the 22 veterans who die by suicide each day," says the official website.
More than 100,000 bikes and up to 150,000 riders are expected at the May 30 event, said Joe Chenelly, executive director of AMVETS.
2021 Rolling to Remember Schedule:
Friday, May 28
- Candle Light Vigil and Wreath-Laying at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial – 9 p.m.
Saturday, May 29
- Thunder Alley on 22nd Street and Constitution Avenue Northwest – 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, May 30
- Reveille Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bikers – 6 a.m.
- Begin rallying in Lot 8 of the RFK Stadium parking lot – 7 a.m.
- Thunder Alley opens at 22nd and Constitution Ave NW – 9 a.m.
- The 2021 “Rolling to Remember” Demonstration Run begins from the rally area – 12 p.m.
- Memorial Day Concert* – 8 p.m.
Monday, May 31 – Memorial Day
- Thunder Alley opens at 22nd and Constitution Ave NW – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- World War II Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony* – 9 a.m.
- Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Wreath-Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery* – 11 a.m.
- Vietnam Veterans Wreath laying ceremony* – 1 p.m.
- National Memorial Day Parade* – 2 p.m.
- National Moment of Remembrance – 3 p.m.
*These annual ceremonies are not run by AMVETS and are pending approval by local and federal officials. They may not formally occur in 2021.
