Event Parking

You really have to plan out your trip based on where you want to park. There is no parking in the town of Occoquan for the duration of the show, except for extremely limited handicap-accessible parking.

Shuttle bus pickup locations are:

  • Yellow Shuttle: Lorton Workhouse Arts Center (9518 Workhouse Way | Lorton, VA)
  • Purple Shuttle: Lake Ridge Commuter Lot (Old Bridge Road and Minnieville Road)
  • Green Shuttle: 123 Commuter Lot (123 and Old Bridge Road)
  • Red Shuttle: I-95 Commuter Lot (I-95 and 123)

The shuttle bus drop-off locations are all in town, right on the edge of the sprawling event. The Yellow Shuttle drops off at the 123 bridge. The Purple and Red Shuttles drop off at Mom's Apple Pie Shop (this is a hilly stop), and the Green Shuttle drops off at the Occoquan Footbridge, across the river.

The shuttle buses are handicap accessible so people in wheelchairs or walkers may still prefer to use off-site parking.

What can you expect to see at the Occoquan Arts and Crafts Show?

This is no ordinary parking lot craft show. The entire town of historic Occoquan is shut down and set up for hundreds of artists and crafters to sell their wares. You have art of all kinds -- from paintings to metalwork sculptures, as well as almost any craft you can imagine. Pet accessories sporting your favorite team logo, hand-painted signs (get one for your she-shed!), and handmade soaps are just a few of the offerings you'll see.

Don't forget to save room for fair food! Giant turkey legs, fresh lemonade, and kettle corn are just a few of your options. Small-batch sodas are sold out of an old-fashioned wooden booth and you can't go wrong with any of the local businesses. Most of them remain open for the duration of the show.

Stop in for a glass of wine and gourmet nibbles at Bottle Stop Wine Bar or duck into Madigan's Waterfront for a drink on their riverfront deck. Be sure to check out Mom's Apple Pie Shop -- it's an Occoquan institution!

Know Before You Go

  • This is a rain or shine event.
  • You will need cash to pay for your shuttle bus ride.
  • Leave your pets at home for this one -- the streets will be very crowded unless you go first thing in the morning.
  • There is an ATM in the center of town, across from the gazebo. Many vendors take credit cards, but cash is always good to have.
  • Communal picnic seating is set up around the gazebo in case you're looking for a place to eat. Additional benches and picnic tables are available beyond it on the riverfront walkway.
