After warm weather threatened to postpone the New Year's Day event, the Evergreen Lake Plunge is back on!

The Evergreen Lake Plunge is an annual event that brings the community together to celebrate the new year ... by willingly jumping into freezing water. Why? Well, it's one of the biggest fundraisers for DriveSmart and the Evergreen Park and Recreation District's Special Populations Programs. Many thought that the event would be canceled due to the warm weather, which is what happened with 2017's event. Through a combination of cold nights and workers flooding the skating rink with water, Evergreen Lake now has ice that's a foot thick -- in order for participants to be on the ice safely -- and is ready for the Plunge! Evergreen Fire Department water rescue personnel will be in attendance.
