Here's the ultimate roundup of where to catch the fireworks in NoVA this Fourth of July!

Grab a blanket or some lawn chairs and celebrate Independence Day watching the skies. You'll have a bunch of options if you're looking for a good show without going into the city. Plenty of towns all over NoVA have big plans, including parades, block parties, live music, and more.

Alexandria: Head to Oronoco Park (100 Madison Street in Alexandria) for the fantastic Old Town Alexandria fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. on July 4. For more information, visit the Alexandria event website.

Fairfax: The City of Fairfax will combine children's activities, live music, and fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July. Everything kicks off with a big parade downtown at 10 a.m., so try to be near City Hall (10455 Armstrong Street in Fairfax) for the best vantage point. View the entire schedule of events here.

Manassas: Historic Manassas will be starting their 4th of July celebration at 3 p.m. with block party-type activities. Games, concessions, and vendors will be all up and down the streets near the Harris pavilion. Fun community contests like the kids' bicycle decorating competition will take part throughout the day. You can also purchase rooftop access for VIP viewing of the city's fireworks here.

Manassas Park: Signal Hill Park (9300 Signal View Drive in Manassas Park) is the site for the Manassas Park festivities this year. Free shuttle buses will be available from City Hall, and activities begin at dusk. There will be food trucks and games to keep everyone entertained, so get there early and find a good spot!

Vienna: Yeonas Park (1319 Ross Drive SW in Vienna) will host the Vienna fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on July 4.

Winchester: Celebrate a day early with Winchester's Rockin' Independence Eve! Kids' activities will be scattered all around the Loudoun Street Mall, and live music will be playing throughout the day and night. Are you brave enough to enter the hamburger eating contest, or will you just relax in the beer garden? Either way, there is something for everyone at this day-long celebration.

Woodbridge: Have your fireworks with a side of baseball with the Potomac Nationals this year! $10 tickets get you into the all-you-can-eat picnic before the game. After the PNats face off with the Wilmington Blue Rocks, you'll enjoy a beautiful fireworks display, and kids can run the bases. What a great way to work off all of those picnic treats!

Know Before You Go

  • Most venues will allow picnic blankets and lawn chairs. Make sure to check though, just in case.
  • Fireworks can be very distressing to pets, and most large firework shows don't allow them. Your best bet is to leave your four-legged family members at home.
  • While some venues prohibit large coolers, insulated cooler bags are usually fine. Pack one with non-alcoholic beverages and stay hydrated!
  • This is just the tip of the iceberg – make sure you check with your local municipalities for shows that might be closer to you.
