It was the slap heard around the world.

If you haven't noticed, social media has been abuzz with the now-infamous "slap heard around the world" at the 2022 Oscars this past Sunday. Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on live television is a moment that many of us will never forget.

And, of course, with any charged moment like this—especially in Hollywood—so many memes were created of the slap. Like, an insane amount of memes. It's kind of ridiculous, to be honest.

Then, on Monday, Will Smith took to Instagram on Monday to give a formal apologize to Chris Rock directly:

"I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness," Smith wrote in the post.

So, in light of Will Smith's public apology to Chris Rock, we wanted to ask you, dear readers: was Will Smith in the wrong for slapping Chris Rock? Or did Chris Rock deserve to be slapped?
