The voice actor was 65 years old.

Peter Robbins, who is best known as the first voice actor to voice Charlie Brown in the Peanuts series and movies, has died. He was 65 years old.

Reports indicate Robbins died by suicide. Phil Blauer, an anchor at Fox 5 TV in San Diego and a longtime friend of Robbins, wrote, "Robbins' family said he took his own life last week."

Born in Los Angeles in 1956, Robbins began acting as a kid and even earned minor roles on shows like Rawhide and The Munsters. Then, in 1963, he got the role that would define his career; he voiced Charlie Brown for the cartoon series Peanuts, which was based on Charles Schulz's comic strip. Over the years, Robbins lent his voice to Charlie Brown in the following: A Charlie Brown ChristmasCharlie Brown’s All-StarsIt’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown; and A Boy Named Charlie Brown.

In addition to working on the Peanuts cartoons, Robbins had roles on shows like F TroopGood Times, and Get Smart.

Throughout Robbins' adult life, he struggled with addiction and bipolar disorder, and he also spent some time in prison.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Peter Robbins' friends and family.
