The former site of the University of Colorado hospital along Colorado Boulevard is getting a facelift in the form of a massive mixed-use development, including a movie theater and residential and retail components.
A 10-screen movie theater is moving into the development at 9th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, taking over the former site for a University of Colorado hospital. When the new AMC theater will open has yet to be announced. 9th Avenue Land LCC, a combination of Continuum Partners and CIM Group, is heading up the project, according to BusinessDen. Once complete, the AMC theater will span a total of 44,000 square feet of the 26-acre property. The former site of the hospital was demolished in March of 2015, with only a parking garage, former nurse's dormitory, and a research bridge left standing. Five retail tenants are also expected to lease space in the development, including Hopdoddy Burger Bar, Zoe's Kitchen, Postino WineCafe, Chase Bank and Bellco Credit Union. In addition, a nine-story apartment building is set to open within the month and a second, 319-unit residential property is currently under construction.
