It's official: a new roller coaster is coming to Lakeside Amusement Park! The new coaster is expected to be in operation by June.

And no, Lakeside Amusement Park's new roller coaster won't be replacing the Cyclone, in case you were concerned. Don't worry, it's not going anywhere! The yet-to-be-named, all-metal coaster is on track to open sometime in June and is said to be about a third of the size of the Cyclone. A Reddit user, firetyrtle, grabbed a photo of the ride and posted it on a roller coaster specific page on the website. After only a few days, the post garnered nearly 1,000 views. "It's not running yet but I can't wait!" And park officials confirmed its construction soon thereafter.
Officials at Lakeside Amusement Park also noted that the new coaster won't be the only changes guests will be seeing this summer. "Basically, we've got a lot of renovation going on," Bill Koller, Lakeside's marketing director, told 9NEWS. Between last May's huge hailstorm damaging the park's iconic yellow tower and a DUI suspect crashing into the front gate in an attempt to elude police in March of 2017, there's quite a bit to renovate. Lakeside Amusement Park has set its big opening date for Friday, May 25 -- which is later than usual, due to the renovations to the park and construction on the new roller coaster. "We just want the park to be open as can be when we do open," Koller said. What do you think? Are you excited about the brand new coaster opening this summer?
