While the Golden Retriever did move up on the most popular dog breeds list this year, the Labrador Retriever remains as Denver's top dog.

We love dogs in Denver. That's no secret. In fact, sometimes we love our furry, four-legged companionsĀ moreĀ than our two-legged human ones. And in the American Kennel Club's annual list of the most popular dog breeds, Denver seems to have a thing for Labrador Retrievers, at least according to the 2017 rankings. The Labrador Retriever, once again, came in the top spot for Denver's favorite dog breeds. "Much like the rest of the country, Denver remains loyal to the Labrador Retriever. The versatile, family-friendly breed makes a great companion for a wide variety of people," Gina DiNardo, American Kennel Club's executive secretary, said in a statement.
Coming in at No. 2 on the list is the Golden Retriever, which moved up from its No. 3 spot last year and bumped the German Shepherd back. (German Shepherds are the BEST! And nothing you say will convince me otherwise.) The Bulldog and the French Bulldog (yes, there's a difference) ranked at No. 4 and 5, respectively.
