The National Park Service has released dates for its free-access days in 2018.
The amount of free-access days for national parks has been severely cut down for 2018 -- instead of the 10 we received in 2017 or the 16 we got in 2016, the National Park Service (NPS) hasÂ
announced that only four days of 2018 will be considered free-access for park guests.
"We hope that these fee-free days offer visitors an extra incentive to enjoy their national parks in 2018," NPS Deputy Director Michael T. Reynolds said in a statement.
Free-Access Days to National Parks in 2018:
January 15, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
April 21, the first day of National Park Week
September 22, National Public Lands Day
November 11, Veterans Day
The free days announcement comes on the heels of the
NPS essentially doubling its entrance fees, like at the ever-popular Rocky Mountain National Park. It's also being doubled at 17 of its busiest parks, including Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Grand Canyon, Zion, Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, and Glacier.
